Painting Kitchen Cabinets
Update and renew your kitchen with paint
If you want to make a change to your existing kitchen without replacing the cabinets there is no better way than by painting them. If you are happy with the layout and function but just need a change of decor you do not need to spend a lot to achieve a new look.
These photos all show how unique and individual painted cabinets can be. Unlike a factory paint finish you can repaint in the future if you want a different look. Not that is is that easy. It takes a lot of preparation before you paint, and painting kitchen cabinets can take a while as I found out.
Once I bought a house that had a fairly new medium oak kitchen. I hated the color and grain and decided to paint it an off white color. The finished kitchen looked great but I really underestimated how long it would take. So do yourself a favor and take the doors off and spray them outside. Don’t forget to paint the inside of the doors as well. Then you just have to paint the boxes and trim with a brush.

This beautiful butter colored kitchen is fresh and calming. The room would have been too heavy with wood stained cabinet over the wood grain floor.
Now the cabinet color compliments the hardwood. For anyone who wants a light colored kitchen but does not like white this paint choice is perfect.
When choosing any yellow tone remember that a little yellow goes a long way. You may like the color on the paint chip, but when you are painting kitchen cabinets with it you may find it too bold and difficult to live with.
Look for very light, beige yellow tones and don’t forget to test them out before you make a commitment.

What a fun way to inject some personality and fun into your kitchen decor! When it’s just paint it is not such a huge commitment since it can always be changed in the future.
The colors have been carefully chosen to compliment each other. There is still lots of white in the space to balance the deep tones of the paint colors.
If you think there are too many colors for your taste you could use just the white and two accent colors.
It’s just about having some fun and not taking decorating so seriously. I can just imagine young children learning how to bake cookies at the island.
Painting kitchen cabinets can be a way to express yourself through your decorating

If you want a pop of your favorite color in your kitchen but don’t want to change all the cabinets this photo shows how you can accomplish that.
The main part of the kitchen remains a great shade of white which continues on the small sections of adjoining walls to unify the room.
The blue painted kitchen island with it’s wood top adds flavor and life to the otherwise neutral space. The color was echoed in the blue glass pendants above the island.
The tile floor suits the space, but a medium shade of hardwood would also look great.
